Examination in our practice

So that you don’t waste time unnecessarily in our practice and when contacting us, we have provided you with a few tips. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Make an appointment

Make an appointment – online or by phone, with our friendly practice team. Thus, the first step to the examination in one of our practices is already done.

Bring a note of referral

Ask about the referral from your referring doctor. This saves you time at check-in.

Fill out the printed form

You will find our practical new patient form here – just print out and fill out. This saves you a lot of time on site!

An overnight stay at the sleep laboratory

  • 1. arrival at the sleep laboratory

    • at 8:00 p.m. or as agreed
  • 2.  registration, introduction and briefing:

    • You will move into your room and you will be informed about the procedures of your examination once again
  • 3.  placing the sensors:

    • Cabling to the equipment and the sensors by our qualified personnel. Afterwards you can watch TV or get comfortable in your room.
  • 4.  From 5:30 a.m. on:

    • removal of the sensors and cables.
  • 5.  Good morning!

    • For a good start into the day we offer a variety of coffee and tea as well as a snack.
  • 6.  After the removal of the cables you may go home.

    • We kindly ask you to leave the laboratory until 07:00 a.m.
  • 7.  Thank you for your stay!

    • The examination is finished: the achieved data of your polysomnography will be forwarded to the practice for further diagnosis and treatment.

The appointment reviewing your results normally take place a week after the measuring at the sleep laboratory.

The nose glasses record possible snoring sounds and interruptions of your breath flow.

Firstly, the electrodes for the ECG will be attached to your chest with a special harmless glue. It measures the rhythm of your heartbeat.

A stretchable belt with a sensing element will be strapped around your chest and your waist measuring your breath flow.

An additional sensor records the position of your body during the night. A pulse oximeter will be attached to one of your fingers to measure the arterial oxygen saturation of your blood.

Nose glasses

The nose glasses record possible snoring sounds and interruptions of your breath flow.

Next, two electrodes are positioned on each of your lower legs, with which nocturnal leg movements can be registered.
